Designing a paint roller bagger for a national construction products manufacturer
The Problem
Packaging doesn’t just protect a product. It also plays a key role in attracting customers and encouraging them to buy. So when a national construction products manufacturer wanted to set their paint rollers apart from the competition at big box stores, they knew they needed packaging that was tough, versatile, and aesthetically pleasing.
After seeing what we had designed for other customers in a completely different industry, they came to Free State Innovations (FSI).
The solution
The manufacturer shared their business challenges with FSI’s experienced engineers, who quickly got to work on potential solutions. We designed three machines to index, group, and bag the paint rollers into wicketed polyethylene bags. These programmable logic controller (PLC) machines tuck one end of the bag inside the product and heat seal the other end – at speeds of up to 60 bags per minute!
Our solution has given the manufacturer years of safe, reliable bagging and sealing performance. In fact, they’ve been so satisfied that they’ve placed multiple additional orders!
